Restaurant consulting · Frisco, TX

Frisco keeps building. We help you open right and stay profitable once the ribbon is cut.

In Frisco, a lot of restaurants start in a brand-new shell on a brand-new road. That is a great way to get a modern kitchen and a terrible way to blow an opening budget. We help Frisco operators plan the build, open on time and get prime cost under control in the first months, when it matters most.

The Frisco market

Sports, families and weekend tournaments

Frisco has more pro and sports venues than most cities its size: The Star, home of the Dallas Cowboys headquarters and practice facility; Toyota Stadium for FC Dallas; Riders Field for the RoughRiders; and Comerica Center. The PGA of America is headquartered here as well.

Add youth sports tournaments that fill weekends with families, and you get demand that peaks around events and Saturdays. Weeknight dinner leans on families who live nearby. Weekday lunch is strongest near office developments and weaker in purely residential areas.

New construction is the default

Along the Dallas North Tollway, SH 121 and further north toward US 380, many restaurant opportunities are new pad sites and new retail centers. You get a clean slate, but you also take on the full build-out: plumbing, grease interceptor, hood, electrical and the permitting and inspection timeline that comes with them.

Landlords may offer tenant improvement money, but the lease terms around it matter. Every month the opening slips is rent and payroll with no sales.

Where we've been

Zack worked at Hutchins BBQ from 2013 to 2022, rising to General Manager, and helped open its Frisco location. He knows the local permitting pace and the vendors who work this part of DFW.

What we see in Frisco

Where Frisco operators lose margin.

  • Build-out timelines and budgets

New construction runs late more often than early. Opening budgets that don't plan for it leave owners short on cash right when they need it to staff and market the opening.

  • Competing with national chains

Many new pads go to national brands with deep pockets. Independents need tight costs and a clear reason for guests to choose them.

  • Staffing a fast-growing market

Every new opening is hiring from the same pool. Training and retention plans have to be ready before the doors open.
